    3. The census divided by wards or districts. If you can find the person in the city directory you may be able to establish the ward or district. Joan Lowery on the list help me with a 1895 ward map. I found my family this way. The Jersey City Rootsweb site http://www.rootsweb.com/~njhudson/JC/1875_and_1885_state_census_findi.htm Bob Murgittroyd claims to have a finding aide for 1885 if you have the ancestors address. Can anyone tell me how you go about looking up family in the 1885 Census. My cousin who lives in JC went to the JC Library to look up some names in the Directories , while there he looked over the 1885 Census film. He just wrote and said finding anyone would be impossible as the pages did not have street names on them. I wondered if there is a way of finding family in this Census. Thanks.
