    3. Hi, Lois, I grew up in Hoboken in the 40's & early 50's, and I remember "Anything for Thanksgiving?" well. Getting dressed up in our parents' old clothes was such fun. I remember having Halloween parties in my house, but I don't ever remember anything going on in school. I was wondering if anyone else out there from Weehawken remembers that we went Begging on Thanksgiving? I, myself never even knew about Halloween until I was about 12 years old when a friends father told us about it. Each Thanksgiving we would wake up, make ourselves up a ragamuffins and go Begging for Thanksgiving. I was wondering if anyone out there remembers these days? If so please share it with me. I went to Roosevelt Grammar School and WHS. Lived on Highwood Terrace, #82 and have such fond memories of those days. Back then the Mayor was Mayor Meister and he was succeeded by Mayor Krause. Those were the days!
