I want to find out what part of Ireland my family came from. All I can find is that: Michael Donovan was born in Ireland 1846, he married Mary Bridget Dacey 2-11-1872 at St Mary's in Jersey City. The census indicates Mary came over around 1863 and she had brothers James and Dennis(they were mentioned in her will), she was born 1846. Michael died in 1896 I am looking at when Michael Donovan became naturalized by researching an index from the LDS library. They seemed to always live in Hudson county, so I looked for naturalization papers for Michael Donovan filed in Hudson County. Today I ordered 4 more films to come to look at the Michael Donovans that I found. It takes abut 4 weeks for the film to come to Indianapolis. IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO DO THIS?? With Mary. I have found her name spelled Dacey, Daecy, Deasy, Daesy. I have her will and she left money to Dennis and James Dacey in Bayonne and her grandchildren HenryLeo & Helen Wrege in Jersey City. HOW CAN I FIND HOW SHE CAME OVER AND FROM WHERE? Linda Bradshaw, Indianapolis
its frustrating, since most of the government clerks couldn't be bothered recording the city. first try the church they attended. they can probably tell you where the ancestor was baptized. then try to get the marriage certificate and/or death certificate. marriage or church records are usually the most helpful. I had to work back from cemetery to death certificate to marriage befor I could get anywhere, but then it all came together good luck RJ Strutton -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, 11 Oct 2006 4:51 PM Subject: [NJHUDSON] How do I find out what part of Ireland my family members came from??
