    3. Thanks for you references Beverly -- I found a lot of good info on the Italian Gene Site -- but doing a surname search came up with nothing -- I must be doing something wrong because it comes up with "no records found" and I tried 3 different surnames. Either that or you need a membership?? Thanks Again Claire ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beverly G. If you find the certificate number, you can order the record directly (online) from the NYC Municipal Archives at Chambers Street in Lower Manhattan. http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/marriage.shtml The certificate only costs $10 plus postage if you provide the certificate number. The folks who work there are wonderful, and you will have your document in about two weeks time. Additionally, if your ancestors had a presence in NYC you may be able to glean some information from the online PROQUEST NY Times Newspaper. If you don't have access, let me know and I'll do a search for you. Good luck, Beverly G. 3. Claire What were you searching births, deaths or marriages? Not all boroughs are indexed in some cases. Also marriages during some time period were recorded both by the department of health and the city clerk's office. I believe these were extracted only from the D.O.H. The site is completely free. You will find it as part of the stevemorse.org one step searches. The NY German genealogy site has some of the same databases. It also part of the Morse search.
