Hi, I found Peter Lyons with wife Ellen in the 1900 in Paterson, Passaic. I'll send the image to your email address. I don't have access to JC directories except for what's on Ancestry.com, 1889-93, and although there are Charles Lyonses and there are Peter Lyonses, they don't appear to be working together. Anyway, I can't imagine the commute from Passaic for Peter, not in the late 1880s-early 1890s... Peter LYONS emigrated at age 16 from Ireland (town unknown) and was naturalized in Jersey City, Hudson County on 20 Oct 1868. In the Jersey City Directory ending May 1, 1867, he was listed as a laborer at Bay cor. Prospect. Also listed at that same address is Charles LYONS, junk dealer. Charles LYONS also was listed as his witness on his naturalization papers, so I am assuming that Charles was a relative of Peter's. Also, in the 1869 Jersey City directory, Charles LYONS, junk dealer, is listed at a home address of 342 S. 8th. I have not been able to find them on any census records as living together or what their relationship may be. I only find Peter LYONS on the 1880 census living in Paterson, Passaic County, with his wife, Ellen CHRISTIE LYONS and two of their children. TIA for any help you might be able to provide.
