Ooops! In my excitement I hit the send button before finishing. Anyway, I just had to share. I know that one of James' sons (my great uncle), Thomas Duffy, was an Alderman and Freeholder, but I've never found details on that either, except for a brief mention in a who's who book from 1900. Well, it turns out family legend had the wrong town. James Duffy was the first fire chief in the borough of East Newark, right next door! I found confirmation on the East Newark website.
