I recently received some death certificates on my relatives and I am trying to figure out what the cause of death meant. (1)my great-grandmother died in 1913 of "Hemiplegia" at age 52 and the definition that I found online was: stroke, paralysis of one side of body (2) my great great grandmother died in 1894 of "Apoplexy" at age 53 and the definition that I found online was: stroke, paralysis due to stroke So is there a place to look up causes of death from 100 years ago to see what it really meant, so I can determine what the died of?? And did women back then in their early 50's really died from Stroke? Isnt that kind of odd? Let me know what you think. Thanks, Linda Bradshaw Indpls
