For those that may remember my request from MetLife regarding information for deceased family members, I am sending you an update. Some of you suggested I write to the State of New York Insurance Department, which I did - but to no avail. Here is part of his representatives response: "First of all, there is no provision in the New York Insurance law that compels the company to furnish you with the information you seek. Furthermore, it is accepted by the courts in New York that no one without a vested interest in a policy of insurance (statutory coverage excepted) has a right to policy information." I wrote back and asked IF I did have a vested interest could I have access to the requested information? And..What documents do I need to show to indicate I have a vested interest?
