I posted a question about how to find record of my great grandfather's pub in East Newark in the 1890s a few days ago. I appreciate all of the suggestions that you came back with. In doing some searching online today, I found out another little tidbit of info about my great grandfather that I just had to share. I'm just too excited to keep it in!! :-) As family legend goes, my great grandfather, James Duffy, was the first fire chief in the town of Kearny, but I could never find anything to substantiate that. Well, it turns out family legend had the wrong town. James Duffy was the first fire chief in the borough of East Newark, right next door! I found confirmation on the East Newark website. I have a picture of James Duffy (not sure when taken) in uniform, with a Kearny Hose #2 hat on, All the best, Tammy Tammy Beltle Independent Consultant The Pampered ChefR (732) 776-8807 http://www.pamperedchef.biz/tammyb [email protected] Cooking & Catalog Shows, Fundraisers, Wedding Registries Ask me about my new POWER COOKING show - three meals in 10 minutes for your freezer!!!
