    3. Bayonne was formed in 1861, with the combination of (from north to south) Salterville (or Pamrapo), Centreville, Constable Hook, and Bergen Point. Settlement dates back to 1646, when Constable Jacob Roy was granted a patent, hence the name Constable's Hook.
