John T. Fitzpatrick retired vice president BRIDGEWATER — John T. Fitzpatrick, 81, died peacefully Thursday (May 8, 2008) at his residence in Bridgewater surrounded by his family. "Fitz" was born and raised in Jersey City and formerly resided in Piscataway before moving to Bridgewater in 1975. "Jack" was an insurance broker for Marsh & McLennan Co. Inc. in New York City for over 30 years retiring as senior vice president in 1990. He graduated from St. Peter's College in Jersey City with a Bachelor's degree in 1950. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. John was a devoted husband and caregiver, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Isabel; his children Brian J. Fitzpatrick and his wife, Hollis, Cathleen M. Ollwerther and her husband, Rich, Janet F. Moran and her husband, Thomas; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 North Gaston Ave., Somerville, (908) 725-3111, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1890 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
