Does anyone have any idea where Hasymus was in the mid 1600's? I can't tell for certain from the Internet resources I've found if it's where Hackensack or Jersey City is now. FYI...some interesting Internet books that may be helpful.... http://books.google.com/books/pdf/Documents_Relating_to_the_Colonial_Histo.pdf?id=MQ4bAAAAYAAJ&output=pdf&sig=ACfU3U0m9C-LO_pzF7V1-rGqI3h3OmzhPQ http://books.google.com/books/pdf/Documents_Relating_to_the_Colonial_Histo.pdf?id=MQ4bAAAAYAAJ&output=pdf&sig=ACfU3U0m9C-LO_pzF7V1-rGqI3h3OmzhPQ http://www.nnp.org/nni/Publications/Dutch-American/dabook/Dutch-Americans.pdf Penny
Hi Penny Are you sure you aren't looking for Harsimus? (Which I believe is now a part of Jersey City.) Harsimus Cemetery certainly is in Jersey City, anyway, and there are several mentions to it in a quick Google search of the name... If you want something more definitive - see if you can find a copy of the book "Guide to NJ Civil Boundaries". I would look at my copy for you - but it is still packed since I moved recently. You should be able to look up Harsimus in the index and find out where it is now and what jurisdictions it has been under for which years. Regards, Joan Joan M.
