There are plnas and grant proposals in the very early stages for NJ's participation in this program, which is essentially "part 2" of the microfilming projects done in the past. We would certainly hope that Hudson County newspapers are of enough historic importance to be a priority once any such project takes off. Of course, in the current climate funding for many projects of interest to genealogists and local historians are under threat. It is essential that those interested in having such resources available become active in pressuring legislatures and local library boards to protect genealogy and history funding. If you are out there, please contact me. Thank you. It has a number of NY City newspapers up and searchable, and I've had good luck finding a few traces of my Jersey City Whelan ancestors. I wonder if there are any plans to digitize any Hudson County papers on this site or elsewhere? -Jim Miller ------------------------------ To contact the NJHUDSON list administrator, send an email to NJHUDSON-admin@rootsweb.com.
