Does anyone know if old JC police files are accessible? The year of interest is 1930 and it is a suicide. MIKE maurmike1@verizon.net
Mike, I called the Hoboken PD 3 weeks ago and they read me the riot act about releasing these records to me. They could not, but speaking with one of my best friends who is a county sheriff, he said it IS possible to get them under certain circumstances. Not knowing how much research you have done, I would recommend getting the death certificate from the NJ Archives, and getting any newspaper story from the Jersey City Free Public Library. My dad's family is from jersey city. What is the surname you are seeking?
