Question for the listers: I have the early Patey family that I can't seem to located dates for. I went through the census and found their addresses in Jersey City NJ where they lived. However, many of them were born in NY. The question is - why? and where? For instance, Achille and Mary J. Patey lived on Beacon Street, JC and raised all their children there. However, it states that the children were born - 1868, 1874 in NY. Perhaps there was no hospital near by in that time period? Where would I go to try to find birth certificates? I think Manhattan is the only area listed at that time. Any comments? Joan
Joan, The New York City Archives is on Chambers Street behind City Hall. I'm been planning to put it up on the Hudson County Genweb site as a link for nearby resources but I've been a bad boy and have not spent much time on the site. Hoping to do so as cold weather sets in. Here's their web site: http://www.ci.nyc.ny.us/html/doris/html/archives.html Bob Murgittroyd Bob Murgittroyd ----- Original Message ----- From: Joan Vreeland Studer <mystery@3rddoor.com> To: <NJHUDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2000 9:53 AM Subject: [NJHUDSON-L] Pateys in Jersey City > Question for the listers: > I have the early Patey family that I can't seem to located dates for.
