Therefore, the death wasn't listed in NJ, although he was waked and buried in JC. Also, for his probate, his death certificate was there from the state in which he died suddenly. Good luck! I'm investigating a similar situation, ggrandparents lived in Jersey City , but there is no record that they died or were buried in New Jersey. They were originally from New York, so I am now investigating NYC.
