I have two people in my family research that were born in NYC in the 1850s, then the moved to Hudson county in the 1868s. I have written to NYC records to get their birth certificates, but I have gotten my request, both times, with the notation "not indexed". And, naturally, no birth certificate. I called them and asked what should I do, and they suggested I should go to the church records. Since I don't have the foggiest idea where they lived, or what church they would have attended, I am stuck. Anybody with any suggestions? Tom Novak
