Susan, I've noticed that those Directories (like phone books) mostly have years stated as 1892/1893, etc. They may have been published in an inexact manner as far as dates. That might account for the missing entry, for example you looked in a 1892/1893 the first time and in a 1893/1894 the second. The Jersey City Library has a pretty complete collection, I was there a few weeks ago.
