    3. Hello Lisa Two towns Union Hill and West Hoboken were combined to become Union City in 1925 -- in fact they just celebrated their 75th anniversary -- and I made a point of attending the parade in this honor on October 22 of this year. My family lived in the West Hoboken (Union City area) and were engaged in the embroidery manufacturing business which was a thriving business from at least the 1920's through the 1970's -- and went on a decline when embroidery was not reflected on designer fashions and the war's ending. Predominantly a German/Swiss and Italian community through the years and now largely Hispanic. Union Hill has a similar history and ethnic composition -- I was told that the original incorp. papers for Union Hill was in German and needed to be translated when reorganized as Union City. In honor of the 75th anniversary -- a really good calendar was issued and the city clerk's office sent it to me for free -- I don;t know if still available -- but there were historic pictures and information contained therein. I had posted this on the list when I learned it was available about 9 months ago. 3. An additional fact that is amusing -- during the parade they had a float that was the "Hudson Burlesgue Float" and had 3 of the old time strippers on it. If you don't know the history -- the Burlesgue Theatre was a prominent site in Union City for many years -- ----- Original Message ----- From: "C.
