FYI--I just came back from the public library in Jersey city off Montgomery street, and the New Jersey room (3rd floor) now has census microfilms for New Jersey! Unfortunately, they did not also buy the soundex, but at least it is a start. They also have maps where you can figure out the enumeration district for the street you are looking for, so it isn't totally like looking for a needle in a haystack. I was able to find the people I was looking for in the 1870 and the 1880 census. Besides the national census, they also have the ones that New Jersey did, like 1885. Tom Novak
