I went in person and got a copy of the will. This is obtained from the surrogates office and cost $3.00 per page. You would have to indicate what you want of the will -- whether all or just the distribution. I also was able to get a copy of the death certificate which was part of the documents. There is other paper with it if you want like the surrogate filing. Everything could be as much as 12 pages. I wanted everything so I paid the price. My will was more recent -- 1975; I don't if there are complications regarding older -- but they were very good and efficient -- not like some of the other departments. they seem to have a good system. This is contained in the Hudson County Courthouse on Newark Avenue, Jersey City, NJ -- Surrogate Dept. Hope this helps.
