Concerning my GG Grandfather, Dr. Rufus Wilie Peacock, who practiced in Jersey City at 234 8th St. after graduating from NYU Medical College in 1875, the official "Report of Death" is listed as 7 Jul 1899. No one has been able to find an obit. Since then I've found a conflicting death date. The records of Arlington Cem., Kearney, NJ have his death as 7 Feb. 1899. This date has been further confirmed by a brief obit. in the Journal of the American Medical Ass'n (JAMA) Vol. 32, pg. 385, which also lists his death as 7 Feb. 1899. Not sure why the difference, but if 7 Feb. is correct, then maybe that date could be checked for an obit. If anyone has access to obits for 1899, a lookup for Dr. Rufus Wilie Peacock died 7 Feb. would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know if the structure at 234 8th St. would be still standing.
