    3. Hi, I'm back on this list after finally getting a copy of the Naturalization Application of my gr-grandfather, John Dammann, Naturalized in Hudson Cty. in 1856 in the Court of North Bergen. It helps -- and also raises questions. He apparently lived in NYC until 1855, then moved to NJ. Would it be likely that he lived in N. Bergen, or would that just happen to be where he was sworn in. I'm a little hazy about my NJ geography but family lore says that he could stand on the bank of the river and hear the bells chiming from the famous church in Lower Manhattan -- the North Church? Where might that locate him? Newark? Does anyone have access to the 1860 census and could look up either a John or Sophie Dammann? I know he died while my grandfather was still a child, so he might not still have been alive in 1860. Also, now that I know he lived in Hudson Cty., could anyone suggest a cemetery where he might be buried? I don't know whether he was Catholic or Lutheran. A lot of questions and, I hope, some of you can give me some answers. Thanks in advance, Marion Markham in Illinois
