    1. Re: [NJHUDSON-L] Firemen in New Jersey
    2. << Fireman's Exempt Association of Jersey City >> I questioned, can't recall where I got the email address, what this meant, Exempt Fireman. I received the following email: Any firefighter that has been active (answers 60% of yearly calls and drills) for seven years becomes a member of the New Jersey State Firemen's Association. The main benefit is the death benefit, at this time (1999) it is nearly $7000 ($14,000 for line of duty deaths). The association is funded by a percentage of all homeowner insurance policies written in NJ. In addition, it funds the Relief Association, which gives firefighters that are desolate money (once or monthly) to live on. It also funds the NJ State Firemen's Home in Boonton, a nursing home that is available to any firefighter. At this time (1999) a full care only costs $700/month, much cheaper than a regular nursing home. Any other questions I'd be glad to answer, hope this helps. Ed email address: FIREMANEDV@aol.com Hope this helps someone. Ann Victoria
