    1. [NJHUDSON-L] STUMPE - seeking burial place
    2. Susan Hantke-Ogden
    3. I am trying to locate the cemetery/burial of my great grandparents, Hugo and Emilie / Emma STUMPE. They were found on the 1900 census living on Ocean Ave, Jersey City, NJ. Hugo STUMPE stated on the 1900 census that he immigrated from Germany in 1880 and married my grandmother, a widow, in 1887. She had an infant child, Elizabeth KUHL, my grandmother. Hugo STUMPE was a watchman and a painter. (Emilie / Emma STUMPE was formerly Amelia Elizabeth KUHL - she usually did not use the name Amelia, but went by Emma/ Emilie. She was the widow of first husband, Lewis KUHL. Her maiden name was Amelia HOLTZ(ke). She was born in Germany). I have the 1906 marriage announcement for my grandmother, stating "Mr. and Mrs. Hugo STUMPE announce the marriage of their daughter, Elizabeth KUHL, to George HANTKE...............". On the 1900 Jersey City, NJ census, there was also a Herman STUMPE living on Ocean Ave. He was related to Hugo STUMPE, relationship uncertain. I am trying to tie him in with Hugo and Emma / Emilie STUMPE. In 1920 Hugo STUMPE was found living on Highwood Ave, Tenafly, NJ, with landlord, Philip MILDENBERGER. I believe they could have been friends from Jersey City when they lived there. On the 1920 census Emilie STUMPE was not listed. This makes me believe she was deceased, and Hugo STUMPE then lived with his friend as a boarder in Tenafly. Do you have a Hugo STUMPE or Amelia, Emma, or Emilie STUMPE in your lineage or family tree? Do you know of anyone by the name of STUMPE, or did you know of anyone who was related to, or knew, or was a STUMPE? I very much want to find where my great grandparents, Hugo and Emilie / Emma / Amelia STUMPE are buried. Please email me with any information or leads that may help me. I am most grateful. Again, thanks. Susan Hantke-Ogden s1036503010@mindspring.com
