Addresses in Union City (formerly West Hoboken & Union Hill) changed after the incorporation in 1925. The post office in UC has the conversion for the addresses -- I was able to obtain what I needed last year. You have to tell them that there is a conversion directory that the Hudson Dispatch Newspaper printed around 1945 or 48. They had it downstairs somewhere -- I would ask for the postmaster and refer to that. The town hall assessor's office (Sally) was going to make a copy for themselves -- I don;t know if they actually did. But also Weehawken and West New York addresses were affected as well. New WNY addresses added "44" to the old numbered streets -- 11th Street became 55th street. In Weehawken, 4th Street became 48th Street -- seems like same thing. So refer to the what the date was for the address you are looking for. There may have been impacts on other towns as well. Hope this helps. Can anyone tell me what Walnut Street is now? Would 259 | Clinton Avenue still be in Union City, or was that part of Clinton Avenue | renamed (it's showing as Jersey City when I try to map it)?
