I'm sending this to the lists I subscribe to: I damaged my file somehow(didn't realize it) and backed it up. Actually several times. When I realized what had happened I called a tech for assistance. We tried but couldn't restore my file. I had to send my disks in for repair. Hopefully, they will be able to fix it( My file contained information from 1750 to 2001). Here is my advise. Don't use the same disks to back up your work alternate. I'm going to be rotating among 3 different disks. Meanwhile, my fingers and toes are crossed. Lucie
Also keep your backup disks in different places in case of fire ..... rotate diligently as you back-up .... put the most recent one with your car keys ..... in the morning, put it in the glove compartment and take the old one from the glove compartment into your office .... put the one in your office locked desk drawer in the pocket with your car keys so you'll take it home tonight for your next back-up. I did this for many years. It worked just fine. Then I retired. And the trouble is, I don't go out every day. But I can still rotate with my car .... and hopefully get that out in case of fire or flood in the house! ----- Original Message ----- From: "lucie bailey" <hondolu@texas.net> To: <NJHUDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2001 6:27 AM Subject: [NJHUDSON-L] back up your back up > I'm sending this to the lists I subscribe to: > I damaged my file somehow(didn't realize it) and backed it up.
