So would this be the same funeral home that was once on Central Ave in Jersey City? Rootsweb's on line mortuary index lists Otto Mack as now Mack Conte Funeral Home, but I can't find it either way. The Central Ave address is a beauty parlor now. There is Mack Memorial Home listed in Seacaucus. Is that the one you mean? I can try them. Does anyone know the Conte Mack Funeral Home, formerly Otto Mack, in Jersey City? I would like to find records from this place but it looks like it's out of business. It looks like the owner retired. I want to find death information for Lillian Lathrope. I don't know when or where she died. She last appears in the 1920 Jersey City census. Her husband, Charles E. Lathrope, died 2 Oct 1941 in Jersey City. According to his obit and also his death certificate, he was widowed and was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in West Milford NJ. There is no such cemetery in West Milford, but there is a Cedar Heights Cemetery there. A West Milford funeral parlor tells me it's a small country cemetery without formal records. I have no idea why Charles would be buried there. I have seen nothing else that connects him to that place, but that doesn't mean anything. I have to think Lillian likely is buried there if that's the right place for him. I have not been able to find Lillian's death. The state archives said they have no record of her death. Otto Mack Funeral Home handled Charles' funeral and burial but it appears to be gone. All records seem to indicate this couple lived in Jersey City for many years, but that leaves me at kind of loose ends what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Loreen Wells
Hi, Abbie, I know they are closed at this time of night, but the New Jersey Room at the Jersey City Public Library might have a book with the name changes of Hudson County streets. I know they have one for Jersey City, and Cynthia, John, Shirley and their helpers are excellent researchers, and great people. Thanks to everyone who responded to my query regarding the cause of death on my father's 1974 NJ DC. BTW, I tried calling Trenton and could never get thru to a real live person. How ironic that I'm able to get causes of death for most all of my family, but not my parents. Regards, Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beverly G. Ann lives in Trenton and goes to the NJ Archives a few times a week. Her charge is 5.00 a record, but only after she finds it. She makes a great copy to send to you.
