    3. Do you think it might be West Hoboken instead of Hoboken. In 1925 Union Hill and West Hoboken became Union City. I had this problem with an Aunt who I searched for in Hoboken but finally found her in West Hoboken. Regards, Gloria M. 3. This was sent to me privately. Can anyone help this person with information about a Greenville Cemetery in Jersey City? Please reply directly to view-finder@webtv.net (Carol Clayton). Thanks Chris Watson Listowner Subject: Greenville Cemetery Date: Sat, 15 Jul 2000 10:21:53 -0400 (EDT) From: view-finder@webtv.net (Carol Clayton) To: genealogist@erols.com I have an ancestor who was in the Civil War. According to our records, he was buried in Greenville Cemetery in Jersey City. My son went there once to see if he could find his grave. He went to the only old cemetery he could find, where he found the grave of Sarah Roake, the wife of James Hart Roake, that he was looking for. A lady in the office could not find a record of James being buried there and said she never heard of Greenville Cemetery. Do you know if there is such a place and if it called by another name now? Thank you so much for your help. Sincerely. Carol Clayton

    3. FYI - on cemetery searches My 2nd great grandmother, Caroline SCHEISSER LAMBERT d. 1891 in Guttenberg, Hudson County, NJ. Her death certificate indicated that she was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery. I scoured all of Hudson County, called Lutheran Churches, called other churches, etc. The Lutheran Cemetery in which she was buried was in Middle Village, Queens, NY. I had no idea that in the pre horseless carriage days, someone would transport a body across the river, through NY City, through Brooklyn, and into Queens for burial. So, if the death notice/certificate does not indicate location of the cemetery, you may need to widen your search.
