    1. [NJHUDSON-L] Re: Where do I go from here??
    2. In a message dated 10/29/2000 4:01:31 AM Eastern Standard Time, NJHUDSON-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: Could it be that your g-father really died in NYC or another county in NJ and that he was just waked and buried in NJ? The other is to look in Probates in Hudson County around the time that you think that he died. I had that with a relative. Therefore, the death wasn't listed in NJ, although he was waked and buried in JC. Also, for his probate, his death certificate was there from the state in which he died suddenly. Good luck! 2. Mats Onsjö
    3. Hello, I am searching for information and descendants of my great grandfathers brother Charles Janson (Carl Magnus Johansson) born December 31, 1858 in Fargelanda, Dalsland, SWEDEN. He was married a Elina b. 1857 in SWEDEN. They had a child Selma Janson b. January 30, 1889 in New Jersey? In my researching I found an old letter from Carl Magnus sent 1891 from West No 10, 21 Street, BAYONNE, New Jersey. I have a photo (not attached now) of a unknown family with this information printed on the back: The National Photographic View Co., W.O Long. G.W. Heppner. No 339 East 34th Street, New York. I also have a portrait from: U. Snell, Artist, Bayonne City, N. J., of a young man who probably is Charles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mats Onsjö Vänersborg, SWEDEN mats.onsjo@telia.com

    1. [NJHUDSON-L] RE: Bayonne
    2. Hi list, Thanks for your replies. My maternal grandmother's line has been a stone wall and now after many years have decided to tackle. Wilhemina Carolina Meyers was born 1894 in Bayonne, I have her birth certificate and it states her father was George Meyers(b. Germany - age 36) and mother Mary Hendle) Her mother supposedly died when she was 2. Years ago I looked on the 1900 census, but only located a Paul Meyer and he had a daughter Carrie which fit her age. I know nothing else about her parentage. I thought maybe the directories would show a George Meyers and I could take it from there. Bonnie

We are holding our first ever high school reunion (Class of 1974, Saint Michael's, Jersey City, NJ). It was a small class (68 graduates) and therefore the companies that will arrange a reunion, including finding classmates, will not extend their services to us. Could you please send your suggestions (off list please) on how to find classmates (we've already done classmates.com and word of mouth) for those classmates that have vanished? Mailto:jawbay@earthlink.net Perhaps there are records we could access through Freedom of Information? Thank you so much in advance for your patience with this off-topic request and cross-posting! 3. Hello Dudley, I had much the same problem. I went to the JC Public Library, and found my family in the JC Directories. My GGM showed up as a widow in the 1879-80 Directory. That gave me a time for my GGF's death. The 1892-93 Directory had my GF's Brother's wife listed as widow also. I then went to the Trenton Archives and found the DCs, which usually tell you where the person is buried. If you go to the Cemetery, you can then find out if any other family members are buried there. You can also check the Censuses, especially 1900, which has a lot of useful info. If you find his DC, perhaps a death notice was in a paper. Never say die in this hobby.
