    1. [NJHUDSON-L] How to find date of death for female ancestors
    2. Hello to all: I hope that everyone had an enjoyable holiday season. My question is this I have 2 female ancestords that passed away prior to 1900. I found only there husbands on the 1900 cenus. How would I be able to find there dates of death. both were in jeresy city for the 1880 census the 1890 census is not available. Is there an 1885 and 1895 Jersey city census?. And would they be listed if they were still alive or is a state census more just head of house hold. Any ideas on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Dudley Pritchard

    3. I'm not sure how much help this is, but I would consider the marriage certificate as more reliable than the death certificate. I was always told to use the information on a death certificate last in order of importance because a lot of times people are upset or just plain do not know when they are filling out the information. Best wishes, Melissa ------Original Message------ From: "Dennis" <dennismk1@earthlink.net> To: Sent: January 4, 2001 10:11:24 PM GMT Subject: [NJHUDSON-L] O.K. everyone here is a good one for you. 3. >>Does anyone know whether or not St Joseph's Catholic Church and/or Holy Rosary High School (14th St & Central Av) is still in existence. If so, would appreciate telephone number & mailing address and email address. If it no longer exists maybe a local Catholic Church can tell where baptism and/or burial info may be sent to. Thanks in advance<< By the location, you're looking in Union City? For Catholic Church info., I came across a website awhile ago, originally designed for travellers, trying to find a church in the area they're in. But, it works for genealogy, too! Go to www.masstimes.org Pick the section for finding masses in a city. Pick the state, and the city. You'll get a list of Church names, addresses, phone numbers, --- and the times (and languages) of the masses. Hope this helps. Maureen ----------------------------------------------- FREE! 1. [NJHUDSON-L] Looking for help
    2. Frank Keough
    3. This should be a challenge for anyone.Just outside the starting gate I ran into a solid stone wall. I am looking for my father Frank Keough. Now the fun starts. Everything takes place in the Jersey City/Union City area and possibly NY City. I was born at 110 Palisades Ave, West Hoboken, Hudson County, NJ. This was at a time when a lot of Cities in Hudson County and Bergen County changed boundaries and names. My mother Elsie E Kristen divorced my father when I was abt 4 yrs old. We were living in NYC when my memory began to develop but shortly after that we moved to Jersey City. I never had any contact with my father. I do know that he had a brother Jimmy who lived in Union City, a sister Jenny who married a Dal Pozzo, and a spinster sister named Agnes whose last place of residence (as far as I know) was Keansburg NJ. My mother was born in 1903 so that should put my father around 1900. I also know that he worked on the Hudson River docks maybe as a longshoreman. His death was about 1950. I live in San Angelo Texas so it is necessary to ask for help in you area. I would be grateful for any help that might get me off and running. I thank you all in advance.
