I, too, am on a search for a funeral director. The signature is kinda blurred, so I do not know if I am reading it right. The death was on August 7, 1902. The funeral director listed his residence as "Hoboken" and it looks like he signed his name "John F. OHara" or OHare or something like that. Any suggestions? Tom Novak
Hello - does anyone have any information on the Bayonne Honor Roll? Thanks! /mar
Does anyone know how old St. John's Lutheran Church is? Or is there an Evangelical Lutheran Church that had a mainly German congregation in the mid-1800s in Hoboken? Thanks for any help. Thanks to all the folks that gave me advice on the William Schlemm Funeral Home. It doesn't exist anymore, the Leber F.H. bought them out and the records that Schlemm had are gone. I called the Leber F.H. and they said ''we took over the Schlemm F.H., but the records are nonexistant, nobody knows what happen to them.'' And I am glad that you folks informed me about Hudson Blvd. was renamed Kennedy Blvd. Thank again. Ruth

Does anyone know where members of the Evangelical Lutheran church in the 1800s to early 1900s might have been buried? Thanks for your help. Hi List, For whomever was looking for a cemetery near Five Corners, I think it might be the Jersey City Cemetery. Here's a link to a page with all the cemeteries listed. Good luck, Susan http://home.att.net/~Murg-JC/cemeteries.htm
I have an 1892 Jersey City Directory reference to Egon L SCHAETTLE, artist, 84 South. And, an old family story, that Egon painted in US Capitol Dome. I would be grateful for any clues anyone may have for pursuing research of this possibility, ANY references to the name SCHAETTLE in any year directory or other resource or clue, perhaps in Art History. Thanks in advance. Edie Rudolph
