    1. [NJHUDSON-L] Armenians in Hudson Cty in 1920
    2. Hello List, I have just come upon some interesting information. If this is silly to some of you please excuse me. I received the 1920 census for Weehawken and West Hoboken and much to my surprise I came across many, many Armenian names. Could someone please tell me how come there were so many Armenian's in Hudson County in the 1920's. Could it be the result of the Armenian Holocaust? I am not Armenian but I am interested as to why people from other countries come to America and especially why they chose to settle in certain areas. Thanks for your help, Lois Segall Friedman

    1. [NJHUDSON-L] funeral home directors
    2. Nancy Wilson
    3. I don't know where there is a list. But I tried to find funeral records once and just called 'a' funeral parlor in the town - they were very helpful and told me where to look - I think I had the name of the medical examiner in early 1900, and they knew which funeral parlors he worked with. Another time they knew who had bought the funeral parlor and directed me there to find records. So, in summary, they know almost everything about old funeral parlors!! If you find where the records are, we should see if we can get that info on the Hudson rootsweb page. -- Nancy Wilson brockden@bellatlantic.net http://people.atl.mediaone.net/bigo2000/ (Dixon Genealogy website)

    2. Theresa Long
    3. For those requesting St. Michael's, St. Augustine (Union City) lookups... I have not forgotten you. I have been down with the seasonal ailments and hope to be back at the microfilm viewer on Thursday. Anyone wishing me to look for something in these church records such as a baptism or marriage between late 1800s and 1920s please be sure to give a year or close range along with the surname. I've ordered other films of churches in Union City and will let you know when they arrive. Theresa Virginia __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Sorry, I was wrong, you are right. It did merge with Grace Lutheran in the 1980's. Can you make a phone call or would it be too costly. Sometimes the church secretary is busy and needs a little reminding. It's been quite some time now. I waited a few months before I sent out the second request. My parents were married in St. Pauls and I'm pretty sure that I was christened there, so I'm a bit frustrated. Any suggestions? Regards, Karen Isley Seiferth

    2. Chris Watson
    3. As listowner, I wanted to announce another surname list: VanZILE, has been created on Rootsweb. Subscribing (and unsubscribing) is the same as any other Rootsweb list and it comes in both single message and digest flavors. Van ZILEs are primarily a New Jersey name, at least originally. My GGM Isabelle Estell Van ZILE married a James WAKEMAN, and their daughter, Ruth Catherine WAKEMAN married Earle Clifford KING (my GPs) whose family was from Monroe Co., PA. This is to explain why some of you have received this email. Chris Watson VanZILE listowner and several others
