    1. [NJHUDSON] The History Hunters on NJN News, Monday, October 2
    2. MJ Mann
    3. List, The History Hunters is an ongoing feature on NJN News. This announcement was on another list, permission to post here received. >>Date: Sep 29, 2006 **NJN's History Hunters take you to Jersey City, Monday, October 2** Historians say there are many clues that lead them to believe that Jersey City is the birthplace of New Jersey. Watch NJN News to find out why and learn about the state's first permanent settlement established there in 1660. The original town square is still visible and the city is home to the longest continuous congregation and the oldest continuous site for a school, where New Jersey's first licensed teacher served as headmaster. Documentation, much of it in Dutch, is housed in the Jersey room at the Jersey City Library. www.jclibrary.org NJN News airs at 6 pm; 7:30 pm and 11 pm weekdays << So, those of you living in the NJ area, you can watch it on TV, whatever NJN station you can get, at the times posted. For those of you who live outside the viewing area, I checked with the original poster to see if there was web access, and received this reply: >>The program is also streamed on our web - .... Our web site is www.njn.net << Checking the site, I found that "You can watch NJN Public Television live online. Live streaming is only available at the program's scheduled air time for shows listed on the Webcast Schedules. Streaming Video of NJN Public Television is available for programs produced by NJN. and Free Windows Media Player 9 software, which can be downloaded from the Windows Media Web site, is needed to view and hear these webcasts. You will need Internet Explorer or Netscape 7.1 or higher to watch " So, there is no 'archives' of the videos, but if you tune in at the scheduled time(s), you should be able to 'connect'. Maureen

    1. Re: [NJHUDSON] Telephone Directory for Jersey City
    2. Marge
    3. Hi Dolores, Thanks for letting me know about the T in library === I let the list know. Yes, the state now wants 25.00 for any record they have. I just got a letter from them stating that for any record for genealgical purpose, this is the guide line. birth must be more than 50 yrs ago marriage more than 80 yrs ago death more that 40 yrs agao I feel they should release more of their records to the archives. They only have records: Birth to 1923 they should have them to 1956 marriage they have them to 1940 So this is good on the side of the Archives -- if they state had their way they would only have them to 1926. Death they have them to 1940 -- they should have them to the yr 1966. If they would give these records to the archives it would be a big help to all of us. It was nice to hear from you again. It looks like the summer weather is coming toa end. Marge

    1. [NJHUDSON] Matthews family & unknown bride's surname.
    2. Does anybody have access to marriage records for Hudson co? Or cemetery records? I am looking for the death date & burial place for Christian William Matthews who was born 30 Sep 1882 in Hudson co. He married a Lydia Louise, whose last name I do not know. Her dates are 16 Dec 1897 and she was from somewhere in New Jersey (perhaps Hudson co, but with no surname, I can't look for her successfully), and she died Mar 1971 according to the SSDI, in Millville, NJ. I am looking for any information about Lydia and about Christian and his parents Frederick & Anna Matthews. Frederick was supposedly from Germany, according to the census. Thanks, Karen
