Hi All According to FamilySearch.org there are a number of Family History Centers in NJ. They are located in: Caldwell (Essex Co), Cherry Hill (Camden Co), Clinton (Hunterdon), East Brunswick (Middlesex Co), Eatontown (Monmouth Co), Emerson (Bergen Co), Fardale (Bergen Co), Irvington (Essex Co), Ledgewood (Morris Co), Linwood (Atlantic Co), Morristown (Morris Co), Paterson (Passaic Co), Princeton (Mercer Co - nearest to Trenton and the NJ State Archives), Scotch Plains (Union Co), Short Hills (Essex Co), Toms River (Ocean Co), Union City (Hudson Co), and Vineland (Cumberland Co) The following link takes you to FamilySearch's advanced search option. Just put in New Jesey, US, and it will give you the full list with their hours, etc. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp I see that the page doesn't tell you what they have or can get, but at least it will give you contact information for any site that might be near you in NJ. (Or, of course, any other state you might want to know about!) Regards, Joan Joan M. Lowry mailto:[email protected]

You can find Family History Centers at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp. There are 18 in New Jersey, including one in Union City which has very limited hours according to this site.
If his body was transferred to Locust Hill why would you look for Old Long Branch? I'm sorry I can't help I don't know anything about N.J. I'm only doing research on one family in Jersey City. Just this week, I found that a relative was buried in Old Long Branch Cemetery. I went crazy looking for it on the internet and found nothing. Finally, I found out that it is located in Long Branch, Monmouth Co., NJ I am pretty sure its an abandoned cemetery. And its right next to Greenlawn Cemetery in Long Branch, NJ. So, far no burial records on the internet to be found. Mary New York Live Well ` Laugh Often ` Love Much
Thank you for taking the time to let me know. When I inquired, I was told that there were NO LDS,centers in New Jersey. How nice to know that people share the knowledge that they have. Helen G.
Delores, Sorry about that but guess I posted incorrectly. Body was transferred to Locus Hill from "LONG BRANCH AREA' a real dead end. Actually, there is an LDS center in North Caldwell, NJ, a few miles southwest of Willowbrook Mall. Their hours are very limited, though, and the computers have all been taken when I've gone there. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 06, 2006 9:17 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NJHUDSON] 1930 Lookup in Jersey City Have you tried the Latter Day Saint's website ? _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) An excellent site. Dolores, I have my gggf Hiram G. McCormick who died 1862 and the record states he was to be buried in New Dover, NJ. He had lived most of his life in Newark but his wife's family is from Long Branch Aarea. His body was transferred by Dillon Funeral Home (can't find) of Long Branch Area to Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover, NJ (Morris Co.) in 1895. Do you think this may be the Old Long Branch Cemetery? ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 9:28 AM Subject: Re: [NJHUDSON] Old Long Branch cemetery >I tried but the best I can come up with is West Long Branch Cemetery in >Monmouth County maybe the name was changed. Hi, I tried to access the newspaper site in Jersey City. It appears the old papers, 1901,1915 are on microfilm and there is a charge. Is this correct?
