Only Lutheran church I found in Bayonne is Grace Lutheran Church 836 Avenue C Bayonne, NJ (201) 339-3685 Perhaps, by contacting them, they'd know what happened to St Paul's and/or the records. 2. Hi, Yes, as far as I can tell. I have great grand parents buried there. They are sandwiched in between Hoboken and the back end of Weehawken Cemetery. I have family buried in that place too. I haven't visited it yet. I have driven past awhile. They were unable to provide me the additional information without an exact cause of death. Jill Jill A. Pierson [email protected] and [email protected] "The truth is this, the march of Providence is so slow and our desires so impatient; the work of progress is so immense and our means of aiding it so feeble; the life of humanity is so long, that of the individual so brief, that we often see only the ebb of the advancing wave and are thus discouraged. It is history that teaches us to hope." Robert E. Lee

    3. Hi Lauren, The following info is 'from the top of my head'. My gggrandparents Senes (d. 1875) & Katherine (d. 1883) Noppel are buried across the street from the office, way back on the left. In fact, I have copy of deed filed in Hudson Co Cthouse for that one! Their son (my ggrandfather) and his wife, Henry C (d. 1940) & Stella Book (d. 1934) Noppel, as well as Stella's brother, George Book (d. 1910) are in another plot, on the office side. Stella's parents, (another set of gggrandparents) Frederick (d 1892) and Rachel Brown (d 1899) Book, as well a child Gracia, are in a plot, not too far from the office. My grandmother, Estelle Noppel Kane (d 1987) and two of her brothers, Edward Noppel (d 1956) and William Noppel (d 1965) are in another plot, on the 'hillside'. And, right near the entrance, by the office, on an island, is my grandmother's sister & her husband, William (d ca 1982) and Hazel Noppel (d 1987) Clark. Uncle Will was a character. He picked out the site years before, saying he wanted everyone going in to see his name! <g> The recent ones I 'knew' from personal knowledge. The old ones, some with death cert info, I found by going thru a volume in the office, page by page, looking for the last names. I wish the LDS could get in and film those old books. The oldest one starts in about 1869! It was just an older caretaker & his wife. They don't have time or patience to do the tedious searching on a 'fishing expedition', but they did let me look. If anyone is thinking of going, you'd better call in advance and make sure the office will be open. I had dragged a friend (non-genealogist) with me. The caretaker took us across the street to try & find the oldest plot. The stone, was either fallen & buried, or was one of a couple of candidates, white (marble or limestone?) totally worn smooth by weather. Based on other research into this particular couple, I'm pretty sure there WAS a stone, at one time. 3. Marie, When you go to the Green-Wood site, at the top, there is 'burial inquiry', drop down list will appear, Just tried this, and it worked. You access by a search. If need be, just put in last name. Try different spellings. They have well more than a half million burials, growing daily, so you can't really 'look' at a list of the whole site.
