MATLOCK, who was a practitioner at the Camden courts immediately after their organization, was born at Woodbury, Gloucester County, January 22, 1804, and was the son of Hon. James Matlock, at one time a member of Congress, whose American ancestor, William Matlock, was among the Friends who settled at Burlington, N. J., about the year 1760. His law preceptor was Charles Chauncey, Esq., of Philadelphia; was admitted as attorney November 15, 1827, and as counselor September 6, 1833. He died April 27, 1877, at his home in Woodbury. Vince
