I can't help but wonder if the '6 old chairs' with rush bottoms might have been Ware Chairs, built by a man of that name in Cumberland County (the Shiloh/Hopewell area)? They seem to have survived the centuries in good order. I have one of the six my Grandmother inherited from a mother-in-law. They are quite plain, round top ends planed off flat, with thick rush bottoms. Just wondering? Sorry, no Scudders or Dunns in my family (at least not so far) ;>) Regards Jeanne Researching WOOLBERT, DOWN, EMEL, SYNOTT, CROUCH in Gloucester/Atlantic County.
