Paul; Thanks for the reply. Back Neck is now a crossroads about 4 miles SW of Fairton. Apparently there is an intersection there where there is a road named Back Neck Rd. I heard from several people who use to live there in the 30s and 40s. The area leads towards the river and marshland. I have a book called "Forgotten Towns of Southern New Jersey," by Henry Charlton Beck. Chapter XXV,pg.191, is called "Fairfield: Fairton: New England Crossroads" and gives some good background on the early beginnings and settlers of that area. Now, if I could just locate my Frank Scudder who was located there in the mid to late 1800s and I believe, lived in Camden at the turn of the century with his wife, Augusta Stevens Scudder.
