My husband, son & I did research in NJ a couple of years ago, and spent a whole day at the State Archives in Trenton. We walked away with an inch-thick stack of photocopies of microfilmed birth, marriage & death records (along with some newspaper clippings, etc.). The birth records we obtained have quite a bit of info on them -- child's name, birthdate & place; parents' names, ages, birthplaces & occupations; address where they lived at the time of birth; number of children born to the family at that time; and doctor's name. Every one of them says "Bureau of Vital Statistics" at the top; some say "State Dept. of Health" and others "State of New Jersey." Try calling the Archives and see if they'll do a search-and-copy for you, or if not, maybe they can suggest a local researcher who will. Good luck!
