Just after you exit the Garden State Parkway, south, for Port Republic and Smithville,heading south, you pass a boat yard on your left. Just beyond that on the left as you travel south on Rt. 9, there is a short road that leads back to a Revolutionary War Memorial. It's hard to see from Rt. 9, but make the left turn and you'll see it beyond some trees and shrubs. Old New York Rd. was a major thoroughfare many years ago and remnants of this road are nearby. Joan
