He was married to SOPHIA SOMERS and in 1802 they migrated to Tate Township in Clermont County. His history records the circumstances of his relocation to Ohio: "By the time the Revolutionary War was over, the fertile country down the Ohio River induced many to go there and establish new homes. Several Higbee families of New Jersey joined in the migration. They helped form what was known as the 'Collins Jersey Settlement.' With Cornelius McCollum, Isaac bought 200 acres from the Rev. John Collins near the mouth of Clover Creek. Here the two men built a mill to serve the needs of the pioneers. Tradition has it that Isaac's little home was a station in the underground railway." Isaac and Sophia, their three sons and their wives, all became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1832, and eventually went with the Saints to Missouri and then Illinois where Isaac Higbee died. Two of his sons crossed the plains to Utah where they settled. Isaac's son, JOHN SOMERS HIGBEE, married SARAH ANN VOORHEES, daughter of ISAAC VO0RHEES and SABRA ANN MOUNT. Can any one out there "shed any light" on ISAAC VOORHEES, his parents, birth (probably about 1764), etc. He died in Batavia, Clermont County, but some accounts have him coming from Pennsylvania and others say he moved to Ohio from New Jersey.
