My husband and I found a receipt dated 1796 in a box of things from his mother's estate. John Schultze wrote that he owed David Chamberlain for work on the sloop the Friendship. The bottom part of the paper is David Chamberlain writing in 1797 that he had received payment in full. Does anyone have any idea of how I can research this? Neither name is known to my family yet. I have contacted the Salem Maritime Museum and the Maritime Museum on Long Island. They are both searching for me. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! Suzanne
