You'll like this, folks. I sent for the death certificates of my maternal great-grandparents, William Stewart (d. 5/7/1945) and Margaret Dunbar (Maggie) Stewart who died in late January 1900. They died in Westville. NJ. The requests came back from Trenton stating that I had to have the names of THEIR parents in order to get those certs. I sent the requests right back to Trenton with a letter telling them: "I do not HAVE that information. One of the reasons that I WANT the death certificates is to LEARN what their parents' names were!" I also sent an e-mail to the Secretary of Health and Senior Services and to the Department itself. This is ridiculous. I had the death dates, where they were buried (Eglington in Clarksboro, Gloucester Co), the dates they were buried and their ages at the time of death. In Pennsylvania, California and North Carolina, this was more than enough info for me to get copies of death certs. What a headache Trenton is giving genealogists!
