Thanks, Terry C Probably the baby was living with and being cared for by grandparents (perhaps maternal grandparents) if there was no one in the household to care for a young baby. Even if there was adequate housekeeping staff in the family it was often felt that a young baby needed care/supervision of a female relative. Depending on the custom of the community he could possibly have been with a wet nurse. Judy Newman
