Has anyone on this list managed to trace a Cumberland County, NJ family to any New England family during the colonial period? John T. Nichols Manassas, VA >> John, In another book, "Forgotten Towns of Southern New Jersey," by Henry C. Beck, a good explanation for Fairfield Township area can be found in Chapter XXV concerning early migration from Fairfield, Conn. to Long Island, NY, and to what eventually became Cumberland Co. in the mid 1600s. These were early Puritans followed by colonists some time later. Joan
