Ok, Broad Street is located on Broad Street in Bridgeton, right across from the middle school (Old High School). Who said you can't drive in there? I went there in November and they hold a Christmas Eve Service at the church every year. As for the state of the graves, yes, many of them have been damaged, but, many are still in good condition, some are being slowly restored, there are also some you can't read or find because the words have worn away or they have sunken in the ground. Now, where the records are held currently, that would be at the Lummis Library in Greenwich, I will be going back there again in the next couple of weeks. There are currently two books for the cemetery, one has been redone alphabetically, the other is in the process of. If you'd like, give me the names you need and I'll be happy to take a look next time I'm there and e mail you the information. As to the soldiers home, could you be a bit more specific as to a street? There are several developmental and state instiutions in Vineland, if you can be a bit more specific, I can inquire at the Vineland Historical Society when I go there in the next couple of weeks as well. Hi Lisa, Have you been reading all the messages back and forth? The problem is a sudden change in their requirements! They are now returning requests if you don't list the parents' names for the birth cert. A primary purpose of requesting an old birth certificate is to find out their parents' names. The Trinity cemetery in Swedesboro dates back to a much earlier time; however, my last trip there (a couple of years ago) was fruitless, as many of the stones are no longer readable. Sorry if I have done anything wrong. Does anyone know the names of the cemeteries in Swedesboro, NJ back in the 1880's? Are their some that are not used now but were back then? How old is "Lake Park Cemetery"? I understand it is in Swedesboro, NJ. I am trying to locate an Aaron H. Leuallen (sometimes spelled Lewallen) and Elizabeth Kier Leuallen. They either lived in the Woodstown, NJ area or Swedesboro, NJ area. I would like to find a census with them in it. I cannot find out where they are buried. All I have been able to find is that they were buried in Swedesboro, NJ. Aaron H. Leuallen/Lewallen died: 11/7/1888 and buried in Swedesboro, NJ Sarah Elizabeth Kier (Leuallen) died: 3/9/1890 in Woodstown and was buried it says in Swedesboro, NJ. Aaron's dad was Samuel Leuallen/Lewallen. His wife was Esther Holmes (Leuallen/Lewallen). Rumor has it he was married in 1811. I hope someone out their can help. Maybe he is in a cemetery that has been vandalized and cannot be read. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Have a good weekend, Mrs. Robin M. Could someone help me with the Broad Street Cemetery, I think in Bridgeton, it is totally desecrated and you cant even drive into it....does anyone know of a listing for the graves or where they could be acquired from? Also: the Vineland NJ Soldiers home....was it located somewhere else right after the War Between the States or has it always been where it is and just remodeled and updated? My Aunt and Great Grandfather died there in the late 1800's and I thought it would be a much older place, I did get to visit this last June but thought it may have been at one time where the asylum is down the street. Could someone help? Thanks!

Please feel free to copy and use if you so desire: March 13, 2002 Via Facsimile: 201-928-0406 Assemblywoman Loretta Weinberg Chairwoman of the Assembly Health and Human Services Committee RE: Difficulty of Genealogists in Obtaining Vital Records Dear Assemblywomen Weinberg: I wish to bring to your attention a problem that family historians/genealogists are having recently with obtaining death, birth and marriage certificates of our ancestors from Trenton. Our requests are being returned to us with demands for the names of the subjects' parents, even their mothers' maiden names. These are long-dead ancestors we're talking about here, not the people next door. Frankly, if we knew that information, we would not need those documents. Trenton appears to be waging a campaign designed to make it more difficult for family historians/genealogists seeking their roots. Privacy is not a valid excuse. The subjects of these documents are long-deceased and since they are the ancestors of the document-seekers, I think the privacy issue is rendered moot. (And we are all weary of September 11 being used as a excuse by people who don't seem to want to do their jobs.) I think these rules and practices are patently unfair to family historians/genealogists and I think they need to be changed. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
