    1. Re: [NJGLOUCE-L] Hannah Weaver
    2. JOHN CAMPBELL
    3. Hi, Anna. I am not familiar with these exact names, but I have both HORNER and SHIVERS in my line, and both names are in Gloucester Co. As for marriage certificate/record, suggest you try "New Jersey Marriage Records 1665-1800" by William Nelson. It should be available at your library, or available on interlibrary loan, depending where you live. They may also be Quaker, so you will want to look in the "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy" by William Wade Hinshaw. This is multi volume book, and vol 2 covers Salem, Burlington, Falls Monthly Meetings. Good luck.

I don't know where she lived before she married , possibly New York state. But she and her husband were living in New Jersey and probably Gloucester County after their mariage . Can anyone tell me where I could get a copy of their marriage certificate/record ? I don't even know what religion they were . thanks for any help , Anna

    1. [NJGLOUCE-L] Re: MOOD/STUTZ; DEU>USA;c.1850
    2. Marge; Thanks for the reply. It's poss. that the Stutz name was really Stotz. I just recently found out Christina's maiden name. I'm desperately trying to get all the names of Christina and Chas. Mood's children because I believe my ggrandmother was one of them, Sarah Mood (I think there were 7 siblings in all)..Christina was orphaned in Wurttemberg, Germany at age 2 and her aunt and uncle brought her to the US at age 16, c. 1850. via NY. They lived in Phila. and then Christina moved to Vineland after marrying Chas. and had some of her children there. It's poss. that her family moved to that area to be closer to her and the family. Let me know what you find out. I'm not from that area. I live at the shore, but most of my more recent ancestors either lived/farmed/worked in So. NJ towns for many years. Some areas were Clayton, Neufield, Elmer, Fairton, Elk,Pole Tavern, and then Camden (back when it was nice) and Pennsauken(where I grew up). My family names are LACY/MOOD/SCUDDER/STEVENS on my fathers side, and BROOKS/ HOSE/ LADD/ CRANE on my mothers side. I guess you must live in that area with all that pretty farmland. I drove all around those areas several weeks ago. Thanks, Joan

    1. Re: [NJGLOUCE-L] MOOD/STUTZ; DEU>USA;c.1850
    2. Maxine, Thanks for the reply. Last month I drove over there from the shore and met that man at the fruit stand, selling blueberry bushes. His name is Richard Mood, probably a very distant cousin on my fathers side. Unfortunately he didn't really know much about his ancestors. I think his gggrandfather and my gggrand were the original George and Charles Mood who established that farming area in Elk/Ferrell. He gave me the name of an elderly cousin of his, May Erlack. I spoke to her housekeeper and she was able to give me very little info after asking May some of my questions. She didn't really remember my ggrandmother, Sarah Mood Lacy, but did vaguely recall that she had lived in Camden at one time, after being married to my ggrandfather, William French Lacy. Hopefully I'll be able to connect to someone who knows something!! Thank you for you very kind offer though. Best Regards, Joan in NJ

    2. Seeking info on a Charles Mood b.1830, and Christina Stutz,b.1833?, both in Wurttemberg. They emigrated circa 1850 to New York, then moved to Phila.,Pa, then Vineland, NJ, and finally to Mullica Hill, NJ. They owned a farm and grew apples. At one time they lived in Vineland and then Pole Tavern. I am trying to verify the names of their other children besides Chas Jr.? b.1865 in Vineland,d.1938 in Elmer. Chas. Sr. and his wife Christina S.(died June 29,1919--Whig Lane, Pole Tavern) are buried in Ferrell Meth. Cemetery south of Mullica Hill, NJ If this sounds familiar to anyone out there I would greatly appreciate any info on Cas. and Christina other children's names Thanks, Joan in NJ

    2. Barbara, Thanks for the reply. Do you show any siblings and dates for Thomas Scudder of Mt.Olive Twp.,NJ His dates make it feasible that he would be in the right age range for my Frank Scudder of Fairton and Camden. I heard from a man who remembered a younger Frank Scudder from the 1930s or 1940s , who lived near Fairton in Cedarville or Rockville. He said that he had 2 children, a boy and a girl named Peggy. Try him at: [email protected] Let me know about Thomas' siblings,OK? Thanks so much. Joan in NJ

    1. [NJGLOUCE-L] Re: [NJCAMDEN-L] Re: Fairton Back Neck (where are these long ago places...
    2. Paul; Thanks for the reply. Back Neck is now a crossroads about 4 miles SW of Fairton. Apparently there is an intersection there where there is a road named Back Neck Rd. I heard from several people who use to live there in the 30s and 40s. The area leads towards the river and marshland. I have a book called "Forgotten Towns of Southern New Jersey," by Henry Charlton Beck. Chapter XXV,pg.191, is called "Fairfield: Fairton: New England Crossroads" and gives some good background on the early beginnings and settlers of that area. Now, if I could just locate my Frank Scudder who was located there in the mid to late 1800s and I believe, lived in Camden at the turn of the century with his wife, Augusta Stevens Scudder. Thanks for your interest and help. Joan Lacy Fitzsimmons in NJ
