    1. [NJGLOUCE] 19th century photographs
    2. Malcolm Sharp
    3. I have found some family photographs and estimate them to have been made circa 1880-1900. They are mounted on cardboard and identify the photographer on the back. Among the photogaphers are: In Philadelphia: A.K.P. Trask, 1210 Chestnut Horning, 63 North Eighth Harry A. Webb, 112 & 114 North Ninth Fearn, 120 South Second M. Herbert Bridle, 526 South Second In Camden: Garns & Co. Studio, 206 Federal Do historical socities have records from those? I'm interested in hearing strategies that have been used by others for identification. Thanks. -- Malcolm Schalick Sharp http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~msharp http://www-rcf.usc.edu/~sharp

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Social Security Death Index on Rootsweb
    2. Carol Holt
    3. I highly recommend the Social Security Death Index on Rootsweb. It is up through June 1999 right now. It has the click on to print out a letter to send for a copy for the individual's Social Security Application Card. It also has a new feature that I really like. You can click on Add Post-em. This way you can leave a message that others can see when they do a search. You can put a password so you can go in and edit or delete later. After posting your input you, go back to the Social Security Death Index Page, you must then click back out of it at least one page to be able to go back and see the same page again. Then you will see that it shows your posting. A wonderful feature especially since most people do check the SSDI sooner or later. I feel this SSDI search is the best. Go to <Http://ww.rootsweb.com/> and then click on Social Security Death Index. There is also a Surname List on the main page. Features like this are what make people come to Rootsweb by choice, but these wonderful choices are only there because people join Rootsweb. If you haven't joined, please take a few minutes to join. Who knows what they will be able to offer next. I am a member of Rootsweb. You can join for a minimum of $12.00 a year right now. Try Rootsweb and then decide whether it is worth $12.00 a year or not for you to be able to do research on-line. Carol Holt Middle Tennessee

    2. Hello Everyone, first I want to say many thanks to all the wonderful people on this list! I have had so many kind and generous letters from you folks and I really appreciate it. I am a little backed up on answering some of you--just wanted to let you know my computer is down and I am barely existing a few hours here and there on a borrowed one (real withdrawal). I just copied the death certificate of William ZANE, he married Lydia SAYRES and they were residents of Bridgeport. He died May 16, 1883 in Bridgeport, age 69. His parents are listed as Isaac ZANE and Nancy DOLBOLD ? That is hard to read but its what it looks like. Does anyone have info on her family or Isaac's? Thanks very much. Kathy Karn

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Re: Meguire
    2. I know there were Meguires in Gloucester Co. during 1800-1832. I have some records showing their presence. Is there anyone who might have cemetery/burial records on that area. Specifically, they were in Swedesborough and the Woodbury area. I have a mention of Hugh M'Guire in Greenwich Twp, Gloucester Co. (NJ tax ratables 1773-74). But, can find nothing to give closer location or any other info about the family for that time. Looking for info on spouse, children, land, burial, anything, etc. HELP! There must be a connection - a Sarah Tomlin married James Meguire. Later I find Hugh McGuire as bondsman for guardianship of children of Hudson & Sarah Tomlin, 1796; and as bondsman on inventory of William Walton, Gloucester Co., NJ, 1797. Am wondering if Hugh was father of James Meguire and William Meguire, etc. Any help will be appreciated.

    2. There are a fair number of Ashtons in Trinity Oxford Church in Phila., all through the 1700's. I haven't gone any "newer" than that because the line splits in 1775. The LDS church has 2 films for that church. Let me know if you would like the number and I'll send it to you. This may not be a geographic area that you are interested in. I have a copy of a will from Phila. of Isaac Ashton, November 1809. He names his son and daughter Jonathan and Mary. This is after your Mary would have been married, though. Marilyn

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Searching for William H. Hendrickson
    2. James L. Hendrickson
    3. Am searching for information on my g-grandfather, William H. Hendrickson. He was born in 1845, one of five sons of a shoemaker in New Jersey (exact location unknown). Family history says that his father remarried after his first wife's death, and the five sons from the first marriage left home because they disliked their stepmother. William H. was a Civil War veteran, but we don't know from which state. After the war, he became a sewing machine salesman, met my g-grandmother (Emma F. Kenaga) in Ohio, and married her in 1875 in Champaign County. They had four children: Clara, Frances E., Helen H., and my grandfather, John Kenaga. Family history also says that our ancestors were Swedish immigrants and may have originally spelled the surname Hendrixson. Can anyone link this to Gloucester County and its many Swedish Hendricksons? J.L. Hendrickson at [email protected]
