    1. [NJGLOUCE] NJ county in 1750
    2. Linda McDowell
    3. this is my only NJ list so I hope you won't mind that it's not about Gloucester Co. I have 2 sources for the place of death of my DOTY ancestor around 1750. One says Basking Ridge, Summerset, NJ. The other one, "Edward Doty of the Mayflower and his Descendants for Four Generations" (pub 1996 by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants) says the same ancestor died prob. in Morris Co., NJ, after 1746. Would these be the same place, with a changed county boundaries? Thanks for your help, Linda McDowell [email protected]

    1. [NJGLOUCE] Re: [NJCAMDEN-L] New Camden Cemetary
    2. Hi, New Camden Cem. is just across the street from Evergreen Cem. in Camden. New Camden records are still held by the City of Camden Public Works office. Call information for the number and they'll connect you to the department that has the records. I found them to be helpful after I gave them my ancestors names. They called me back in 2 days with plot numbers and causes of death, as well as DOB and DOD. It sure helped advance my research for at least 2 of my ancestors. Good Luck, Joan

Debby Vertical Files are usually loose sheets of note, records, etc. that are kept in a file cabinet. As a file cabinet most often is only about 12 inches wide, 4 or 6 drawers high, as opposed to a book shelf in a library that can be several feet wide, I believe that is where the term "vertical" came from. You should be able to photocopy the material in the file. Pat B

    3. Our vertical files consist of loose materials taken from various sources. They may include family group sheets, Bible records, genealogies, documents, vital statistics, etc. for particular families. Our fee for copies by mail is fifty cents for the first ten pages and twenty-five cents for each additional page including postage. Requests for copies should be sent to GCHS, 17 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ 08096-4605. Welcome to the FLOYD mailing list! You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to FLOYD as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to [email protected] that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to [email protected] 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to [email protected] to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to [email protected] to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to [email protected] It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. 1. [NJGLOUCE] Esther Wills - Early 1700's
    2. Can anyone help me solve the riddle of my dead end Esther Wills. She married Zebulon Brooks s/o Hannah Bowen and Timothy Brooks. Based on descendant information, I imagine she was born ca 1710....but it is a guess....Although the Brooks family lived in Cumberland County, I am posting to Burlington and Gloucester because of the preponderance of Wills in those counties.... Esther Wills and Zebulon Brooks had the following children: Zebulon, John, Joseph, Mary and James. Thanks for any and all help. Georgia Whitson

    3. Suzan- My father, C. Edward Sharp, worked for NY Ship for nearly 20 yrs both before and after WWII. He was in the personnel dept serving as industrial relations manager and employment manager. He left the company in 1954 [went to work for RCA which was also in Camden]. Sorry to tell you that when NY Ship closed all employment records were destroyed. -- Malcolm Schalick Sharp http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~msharp -- "Suzan P. 1. [NJGLOUCE] Duty Poem
    2. vlentz
    3. Found in a newspaper. I usually send it out around Veterans Day. A Little More Than Duty Somewhere a bugle sounds, and men inside their building wait until the flag comes down. And others run to get their car quite harrowed or dismayed. Afraid they will not reach the gate before "Retreat" is played. Not thinking of the flag or men who fought to keep it flying. How many would be glad to stand whose bodies now are mute. Or have no hand that they might raise. and stand in proud salute. So accept it not as a duty, but a privilege even more. And receive as an honor, instead of just a chore. author unknown
